Mondonville is 17 km away from Toulouse's central Town Hall, to the North-West, and about 9 km away from Blagnac and its high-tech aeronautics and aerospace industries (Airbus Industrie, British Aerospace ...). It is a small village that has hardly grown in size since Roman times, during which it was called Mondonvillae. Experiencing life in a small French village can be very fulfilling! Mondonville, though a small village, has its own bakery, its own doctor, its own barber, its own café, its own clock tower, its own park with a riverside walk, its own post office, its weekly competition of pétanque (the national sport!), and a church for which written accounts exist as far back as 1206 A.D. If you walk a bit, or instead lazily take your car to go a few hundred meters, you'll find a small shopping center just outside the village (supermarket, pharmacy, optician, pizza parlor, gas pump, a news and tobacconist's) |

Bouconne Forest is a large area of woodlands that can be visited right outside of Mondonville village (500 meters), and can be considered as the "lungs" of Toulouse. Strollers visit it by foot, horse, or bicycle. Cars must be parked on the outskirts. A sports complex can be found in its center. Also of interest are a lake and a tower belonging to the world's first telecommunications network: a 200-year old aerial optical telegraphic network: the Chappe Telegraph.

Toulouse, also known as "la Ville Rose" ("pink city" due to the brick buildings it contains), is situated between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic, 734 km south of Paris and is the 4th largest city in France. Toulouse's written history goes back to the 4th century B.C. Originally inhabited by a Celtic tribe - the Volques Tectosages, the city underwent considerable changes: 4th city in the western Roman empire (2nd-3rd centuries A.D.), capital of the Visigoths (5th century A.D.), epicentre of Catharism (11th century), largest university town in France after Paris (18th century to now) ... eventually Toulouse became what it is best known as today: a hub for the aeronautics and space industries. Toulouse is home to 700,000 people, including 105,000 university students. Its rich history, fine weather, general quality of life and its cosmopolitan and young population, make Toulouse a wonderful city to live in or visit.
